Super Bowl boots a Michigan company’s business

beerIf you like to enjoy a cold one while watching the Super Bowl — or any time, for that matter — the business that brings that refreshment to you is likely just down the street.

The Bay City Times ran an interesting piece earlier this week about a beer distributor in Monitor Township that has been around for 126 years. Fabiano Bros. Inc., owned by James C. Fabiano II, ships about 6 million cases of beer each year. Six million!

The company is growing, too. As the article says:

In the past five months, Fabiano Bros. has acquired three new operations. The company acquired Flint-based Tom Ryan Distributing Co. in December, Mount Pleasant-based Chippewa Beverage Inc. in October and the wine division of Saginaw-based Muehlenbeck Distributing Co. in September.

The acquisitions mean more jobs to Bay County, and an expansion of the distribution facility.

Of course, there are plenty of other Michigan-based food companies that you could serve up at your Super Bowl party. For the kids and the teetotalers, Faygo pop; for crunchy snacks, Better Made; and for the main course, Domino’s, Little Caesars or Hungry Howie’s pizza. And Biggby Coffee before you send everyone home.

Do you think about buying local when you buy for your home or office parties?
